While serving with the US Armed Forces in Afghanistan, Sikandar Khan witnessed the torment that refugees had to face in the wake of conflict. It became his mission to serve people fleeing conflict — no matter where they may be from. As a graduate of Seton Hall’s School of Diplomacy, Sikandar, along with others, worked towards this goal by establishing GERA – Global Emergency Response and Assistance. Over the last few years, the organization has provided humanitarian assistance to hundreds of refugees in conflict zones, and supported refugee resettlement here in the United States.

Current students at Seton Hall have honored Sikandar by creating a GERA Chapter at the University. The chapter announced that their goal is to expand Sikandar’s vision and promote opportunities for students to make a positive change in the world around them. A similar chapter was recently established at Rutgers University.

We would be delighted to see this tradition grow at more universities. If you would like to create a new chapter at your school, please email our Program Coordinator at teresa.reynolds@gera-ngo.org to discuss this further.
